My First Raptor

Brew your own beer at home! We have put together a unique Raptor home brewing kit (approx. 18 liters) so that even complete beginners can do it, while still enjoying the experience of real beer brewing.

What does our package contain? First and foremost, instructions compiled by the Matuška brewery team to be as understandable as possible for everyone. Then there are the basic ingredients for brewing Raptor and useful tools needed for brewing.

Raptor should be easy enough for beginners to brew, but it will certainly also appeal to advanced brewers and is the perfect gift for those who love beer.

The package for brewing your first Raptor is available in two versions:

➊ For complete beginners (including additional equipment)

➋ For those who already brew beer at home (and therefore have their own additional equipment)

⚠️ Important information: The beer must be brewed before the yeast expires, which is usually around 2 months. If you would like to know the exact date, please write to us at objednavky@pivovarmatuska.cz.

What you will receive in both options:

Ingredients – malt, hops, yeast

24 bottles with screw caps

"Paint your own" bottle labels

What else is included in the beginner's version (i.e., with additional equipment):

Beer hose – for cooling the wort (approx. 15 meters)

Brew bag – for easier straining

John Guest tap – for easier bottling

Iodisol – for checking saccharification

Dextrose – for fermentation in bottles

What else you will need for brewing and must purchase yourself:

A pot with a capacity of at least 25-30 liters – try asking your friends, cafeterias, or your favorite pub

A large wooden spoon or something else to stir the mixture

A thermometer for boiling, preferably digital

A 30-liter container to collect the wort and also cool the mash (ideally another pot, but it can also be a plastic food container, such as a large bucket, as long as it is perfectly clean – you can tell it is food grade by the fork and knife symbol)

A larger sieve or colander – not 100% necessary, but it will make straining much easier

A smaller 10-liter pot or kettle – for heating the sparge water

5 kg of ice – you can buy this at a gas station

A 22-liter fermentation vessel – a demijohn or barrel without a fitting (the thing that a tap is usually attached to); the vessel must be perfectly clean; it can be borrowed from the brewery for a deposit

Scales that can weigh in grams

A small sieve – not essential, but may come in handy

Why did we choose Raptor?

It is one of the first IPAs brewed in the Czech Republic, and it is also a recipe that we have hardly changed since the first batch, and it is still one of the most popular beers in our beer collection. That's why we hope that Raptor could become your gateway to the world of brewing, where you can enter not only as consumers, but perhaps even as brewers. We have tried to make the brewing process as simple and accessible as possible for everyone.
